Slowing Economy For Malaysia In 2023

A slowing economy linked to China’s slow recovery are the main points for the start of 2023 says Moody’s.

Moody’s is one of the many who are saying Malaysia’s economy would start to slow in 2023 after an exceptional run in 2022, adding that this is because the demand for the country’s manufactured goods has weakened, mainly due to the slowing Chinese economy.

Compensating a slowing economy

These will be compensated by export trade with South-East Asian economies, as well as with the United States and the European Union, that remains robust.

Malaysia would also benefit from the trade diversion from China, as firms reroute their supply chains to alternate locations, a trend that will insulate Malaysia from the weakness of Chinese demand for Malaysian exports.
