Apparently, the trend of not cleaning up after oneself in a fast food establishment like KFC and McDonalds are a common sight in Malaysia. This is despite the modus operandi of these locations. To keep costs low, they maintain a self-service policy. 

Some feel entitled not to clean up after themselves in fast food chains 

An X user says that some customers can be “disgusting” when it comes to eating their fast food places as food remnants are “thrown” all over the place. The user adds that it’s time for us to do our due diligence by cleaning up after ourselves. 

Additionally, some users confuse paying a service tax with paying a service charge. Service tax does not go to the company, but rather to the government. A service charge, which is typically listed in proper establishments, is for the service given.
