Human Resources Minister Steven Sim emphasised that minimum wage should not be the sole benchmark for worker welfare, highlighting collective agreements (CAs) as a more flexible and legally binding mechanism for fair wages and benefits.

During a visit to the National Automotive Industry Workers Union (PONSB), Sim discussed key industry challenges and government initiatives, including the Progressive Wage Policy and MADANI Workers’ Card.
The ministry also granted RM25,000 to support union digitalisation and training. PONSB plans to propose a 15% salary adjustment in its upcoming 13th CA negotiation with Proton, representing nearly 5,000 members.
