KOTA KINABALU – The Coroner’s Court was told today that 13-year-old SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha student Zara Qairina Mahathir may have been called to a so-called “student high council” session, known as “MA” (Mesyuarat Agung). Hostel guard Linah Mansoding, 65, testified that seniors sometimes held such unsanctioned meetings to reprimand juniors for perceived disrespect, such as not greeting them. She described the practice as an “illegal meeting” not endorsed by teachers. The inquest also heard allegations that Zara had been accused of stealing RM300 and a bank card, though the court has yet to establish their veracity.
