KUALA LUMPUR – PAS lawmaker Syahir Sulaiman, Member of Parliament for Bachok, has urged Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders to halt public disputes and allow top leadership to resolve ongoing tensions. In a statement dated February 1, Syahir appealed for a “ceasefire,” stressing that internal disagreements should not be aired openly.
“Out of respect for senior leaders, I ask that we stop writing publicly. Silence is golden,” he said, translated from Malay. Syahir noted that grassroots machinery in states such as Perak and Melaka had already launched election preparations, with PAS candidates and volunteers actively working.
PN Leadership Dispute
He warned that disputes over PN’s chairmanship, currently linked to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, risked distracting from electoral readiness. “We only want to continue the journey. Do not delay any longer,” Syahir added. He called for a full council meeting to settle leadership matters swiftly, emphasizing unity and focus ahead of elections.
