The victory confirmed weightlifting as Malaysia’s strongest medal contributor, accounting for five of the six golds won so far. Syahmi, who claimed silver at the 2025 SEA Games, now joins fellow champions Mohamad Aniq Kasdan, Muhammad Aznil Bidin, Muhammad Erry Hidayat, and Muhammad Hafizuddin Roslin.
Malaysia’s other gold came from para long jump star Datuk Abdul Latif Romly. The national contingent has collected six gold, two silver, and three bronze medals to date.
