TEMERLOH, Sept 13 — The death toll from the massive 11-vehicle crash on the East Coast Expressway (LPT) has risen to five after teenager Sebastian Seow Jhen, 18, succumbed to his injuries at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah on Saturday.
Sebastian, who was driving an SUV, sustained serious head and body injuries in the Aug 31 collision at KM110.3. His father, Seow Beng Wain, was also killed in the crash. Temerloh police chief Asst Comm Mohd Nasyim Bahron confirmed Sebastian’s death, saying his body was taken to Kuala Lumpur for burial.
Teen Dies
The accident occurred when a cement tanker lost control and rammed into several vehicles. Other victims included Muhammad Nazatullah, his wife Nur Atiqah Sofiya, and their child. Eight others, including passengers of an express bus, suffered minor injuries.
The tanker driver, Zulkarnain Md Noh, 52, was charged in hospital on Friday with four counts linked to the earlier fatalities.
