A telecommunications tower at Telekom Malaysia’s Sungai Perak substation in Kampung Kelebor, Kuala Kangsar, burst into flames on Saturday (Dec 28), visible from the North-South Expressway. The Perak Fire and Rescue Department received a call at 6.36pm but faced delays due to an inaccurate address and highway traffic.

The team, using a four-wheel-drive vehicle, navigated through dense forest and oil palm plantations, arriving an hour later. By then, the landowner had fully doused the blaze with fire extinguishers and stored water. Partial tower damage affected communication panels, disrupting Maxis services. Investigations continue.
