Texas is emerging as a hub for AI data centers, with projects shifting closer to population centers to deliver faster services. Dallas‑based developer DataBank secured $2 billion in financing led by MUFG to build three facilities in Red Oak, 20 miles outside Dallas, with a fourth backed by $600 million in private placement.

DataBank Secures $2B for Texas AI Campus

The four‑building cluster will provide 240 megawatts of computing capacity, leased to a major hyperscaler. CEO Raul Martynek said demand for inference computing — processing AI prompts near users — is rising sharply. JLL data shows inference workloads could grow from 9% in 2025 to 37% by 2030. Despite surging demand, lenders remain cautious, slowing syndication markets for large AI projects.
