SHAH ALAM: Enforcement of the Community Service Order (CSO) under the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act 2007 aims to combat littering in public spaces. Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming warned that small littering habits, if unchecked, can lead to clogged drains and flash floods.
Shame for littering
“Do not throw cigarette butts, tissues, or drink cans everywhere because it not only pollutes the environment but also tarnishes the nation’s image. The hand that litters is the hand that must clean. Never throw rubbish and bring shame upon your own family name,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
He stressed that offenders must clean up as a reminder of responsibility. On Saturday, 78 offenders carried out CSO across six states, including Kedah, Perlis, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, and Johor. SWCorp reported over 1,300 notices issued nationwide, reinforcing Malaysia Madani’s sustainable waste management goals
