Meta has introduced Threads, an app positioned as a competitor to Twitter, aiming to attract users seeking an alternative to the frequently changing social media platform owned by Elon Musk.
Twitter Challenged
Described as a text-based version of Meta’s Instagram, Threads offers a separate space for real-time updates and public conversations. Despite some initial glitches, the app garnered 10 million sign-ups within the first seven hours.
Friendly Place
With its microblogging features, Threads positions Meta to directly challenge Twitter’s user base. Marc Zuckerberg says on Threads that he’s focused on making the app “a friendly place,” which will “ultimately be the key to its success. That’s one reason why Twitter never succeeded as much as I think it should have, and we want to do it differently.”
