KUALA LUMPUR — Umno has urged authorities to take stern action against anyone improperly displaying or hoisting the Jalur Gemilang, calling repeated offences a serious matter affecting national dignity.

“Firm and stern action, including prosecution, must be taken against anyone committing such offences, regardless of the reasons given,” said party secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki after the supreme council meeting. The statement came after Terengganu Umno Youth chief Tengku Haphiz Tengku Putera apologised for a Jalur Gemilang graphic error on social media, which he attributed to a freelance designer.
