New: UMNO Won’t Accept Members from Other Unity Government Parties, Says Mohamad Hasan

SEREMBAN, Aug 14 — UMNO will not accept members from other parties within the Unity Government, even if they wish to join, deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said. He urged all coalition partners to adopt the same stance to preserve political harmony. “UMNO hasn’t stolen anyone’s members, and if any from within the government want to join us, I will not accept,” he said after officiating the Lavender Height SK multipurpose hall. His remarks follow UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki’s announcement of plans to send a protest note to coalition parties over such member transfers.
