Blogger Murray Hunter believes Umno is pushing for PH to fail in the next GE in order for the party’s leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to have a shot at the post of prime minister. The post in The Vibes says Zahid’s party has a game plan, and in it, it has to win more seats than PH or other Malay parties for Zahid to rise to prominence.

“UMNO requires PH to perform poorly in the coming general election to achieve the above. However, this doesn’t discount Anwar from still being able to come up and obtain a second term as prime minister,” said Hunter. “If that occurs (Umno winning more seats), then Zahid would be the ‘natural’ nominee to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) Sultan Ibrahim to become the PM.
