Once operational, the plant will draw water from the Expanded Mengkuang Dam, Penang’s largest, and supply up to 114 million litres daily to Seberang Perai Tengah. Chow said the project is part of the Water Contingency Plan 2030, ensuring long-term water security. PBAPP CEO Datuk K. Pathmanathan added it is the first of four new treatment plants planned under WCP2030.
