Now that Umno is firmly in power, it is pushing for the HSR project with Singapore. It all began with PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob visit to Singapore on Nov 29 where he spoke with the Singapore PM on the possible revival of the project.

But later on, the head of Umno’s Youth Movement, Dato Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki reiterated the need to revive the project.

“Hundreds of thousands of jobs will be created, the downstream economy will grow rapidly, tourist destinations such as Melaka which is one of the transit stations will enjoy an overflow of cash flow from foreign tourists, and the multiplier effect of the economy will generate hundreds of billions of long -term revenue sources for the country,” he said.
