University of Cyberjaya Suspends Students, Boosts Security After Student’s Murder

The University of Cyberjaya has suspended two students linked to the murder of 20-year-old physiotherapy student Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara, found dead with injuries in her off-campus condominium on June 28, 2025. The university, facing scrutiny over student safety, has enhanced security at shared accommodations, deploying additional personnel and increasing patrols. Maniishapriet, alone in her Mutiara Ville unit during holidays, was discovered unconscious by a friend. Three suspects, aged 19-20, are under remand. Vice Chancellor Dr. David Whitford emphasized student safety, stating, “We are taking firm steps to ensure our community feels protected.”
