A coalition of Malaysian veterans’ groups is stepping up efforts to improve job prospects for former servicemen through expanded upskilling and reskilling programmes. The initiative aims to better prepare retirees from the armed forces for civilian employment, particularly in technical and vocational sectors.
Veterans Groups Push Upskilling for Ex-Servicemen
The groups said many ex-servicemen possess discipline and transferable skills but lack formal certifications recognised by employers. By partnering with training providers and government agencies, the coalition hopes to bridge this gap and improve employability.
The move also supports national workforce goals by tapping into an experienced but underutilised talent pool, ensuring veterans can transition smoothly into meaningful second careers.
