SINGAPORE, July 29 – A 40-year-old man, Prem Anan Sugunakumar, was fined $5,000 and disqualified from driving for six months after allowing his two young sons to sit on the boot of his Porsche while he drove along Dairy Farm Lane. The incident, which took place on Oct 20, 2025, involved his sons aged seven and eight. Prem’s wife recorded the stunt, and the video was later posted online. Another driver witnessed the act and lodged a police report, leading to Prem’s arrest on March 12.
Man Fined
Deputy Public Prosecutor Cheryl Tan argued that as a father, Prem should have prioritised his children’s safety but instead exposed them to danger. She also highlighted his history of traffic offences dating back to 2004. Deputy Principal District Judge Kessler Soh imposed the maximum fine, stressing deterrence. For rash acts endangering children under 14, offenders face fines up to $5,000, one year’s jail, or both.
