Wan Junaidi Gets Applause

Bersih 2.0 is in awe with de facto law minister, Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar for stating some existing act is completely obsolete and outdated and is no longer suitable for the political landscape of the 21st century.

Bersih says this is the first good news today. “We welcome the pledges on parliamentary reforms, especially on the reintroduction of the Parliamentary Services Act. We hope this will be the starting point for Parliament to be independent of the Executive and play an effective role of checks and balances!”

Wan Junaidi says there was a proposal to create a new Parliamentary Act to replace the Privileges and Power Act 1952, as he argued that it was outdated.

“Instead of amending it, it’s better to come up with a new Act that is more comprehensive, inclusive and complete,” adds Wan Junaidi.
