Commencing February 1, the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) will implement new water tariff adjustments for domestic users in the Peninsula and Federal Territory of Labuan. This involves an average 22-cent increase per cubic meter under the Tariff Setting Mechanism, standardized for Peninsula states and Labuan.

The adjustment, reviewed every three years, aims for consistent payment determinations. SPAN asserts this is crucial for the long-term viability of the water services industry. The increase, deemed low, falls short of covering the actual cost, estimated at RM1.75 per cubic meter. SPAN encourages targeted assistance for users and urges operators to invest in water infrastructure.
