MELAKA, Aug 11 2026 – A 32‑year‑old Indonesian woman, Nurlela, found herself in hot soup after promoting “romantic services” on MiChat under the name Wawa. The court, however, was not impressed with her marketing strategy and sentenced her to 12 months in prison. Caught during Ops E‑Noda at a hotel in Pengkalan Rama Tengah, Nurlela’s phone revealed chats offering “packages” ranging from RM130 to RM250 – almost like a buffet menu, except with no dessert. Police said she negotiated prices, locations, and even exchanged selfies with potential “customers.”
MiChat
Nurlela, who cried in court, pleaded for leniency, saying it was her first offence and she had a mother to support back home. But prosecutors argued prison was mandatory under Section 372(1)(e) of the Penal Code. The judge agreed, ruling that MiChat should remain for chatting, not “creative entrepreneurship.” Nurlela’s sentence begins from her arrest date, July 29.
