Will the vaccines end the lockdowns after the entire population is vaccinated? We all assume it will be the case, that is yes, we will be out of lockdowns.
This is a question everybody is asking in Australia.
But what do the experts say? The Aussie Department of Health is not sure what is the answer. And this uncertainty means there will be a continued lockdown, says analyst Ganesh Sahathevan.
In his blog, Sahathevan writes:
“Australia’s Department Of Health confirms that it does not know if COVID vaccines can end lockdowns even when everyone is vaccinated.
“DOH says determining vaccine efficacy is a work-in-progress which requires Australia’s borders to be closed indefinitely.
“Australians will remain locked-in, and those overseas locked out indefinitely.”
HERD IMMUNITY
The health authorities say it will all depend on achieving herd immunity.
“The Department Of Health has not said when it will be satisfied that it has evidence to support a view that herd immunity has been achieved,” writes Mr Sahathevan.
