Woman now held for staging own kidnapping for RM18,000 ransom

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a woman in her 20s who is believed to have staged her own kidnapping in an attempt to obtain an RM18,000 ransom payment.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said the woman was found safe during an Ops Scorpion raid at a house in Taman Perniagaan Setia, Johor Bahru, at about 3.30pm on Saturday.

The operation was launched after her 43-year-old mother lodged a report in Sarawak, claiming her daughter had been abducted. During the raid, police also arrested a 27-year-old man and seized four mobile phones.
