Umno leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is facing a ‘close fight’ in his constituency with a closer examination of the electoral margin of victory over the previous years revealing that Mr Ahamd Zahid may be losing support, which could make it challenging for him to win when voters cast their ballots.
According to the results of past elections, Mr Ahmad Zahid’s vote share fell from 55 per cent in 2008 to 53 per cent in 2013. In 2018, it was 51 per cent but that year his winning margin rose from 2500 to 5000 with the PAS apparently snatching votes from possible PH voters.
Close Fight
However, this time around the PAS is against him and they are with the PN which is leading an anti-Umno campaign that is apparently biting into Umno’s voter bank and could translate in lesser votes for Zahid, says an analyst.
