Zamri arrested over Facebook post on KL temple

1 min read

In Petaling Jaya, independent preacher Zamri Vinoth was arrested for a Facebook post linked to the relocation of Kuala Lumpur’s Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman temple, sparking public unrest. Inspector-General Razarudin Husain confirmed the arrest, citing sedition and defamation of Hinduism. Zamri’s post followed backlash over the temple’s move to accommodate a mosque on land owned by Jakel Trading, which offered to fund the relocation. The temple committee recently agreed to shift 50 meters to a new site. Earlier, Zamri’s remarks on the kavadi ritual drew nearly 900 police reports, intensifying the controversy.
