The parents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, an autistic child believed to have been murdered in Damansara Damai, Selangor, last December, claim they have been wronged and slandered during their remand extension proceedings at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court.
Zayn Rayyan parents pleading innocence
The 28-year-old couple, detained since May 31, faces murder charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Amidst tight security, Zayn Rayyan’s father proclaimed his innocence, causing a commotion as family members shouted encouragement.
Their lawyer, Fahmi Abdul Moin, stated the police initially sought a seven-day remand extension, but the magistrate granted only six more days. Another lawyer, Ilyani Khuzairy, mentioned the father’s extreme distress. Outside the court, about 20 family members gathered, demanding justice for Zayn Rayyan.
