Did You Know Singapore Airlines Flew The Concorde?

1 min read

In the late 1970s, Singapore Airlines had an agreement with British Airways to share a Concorde together on their Singapore – London flights. This meant flights between the two islands would be cut in half.

It was said the tickets were more expensive than regular first class. The service was a short-lived one as there were many factors to its demise. Both political and economic factors.

A one way ticket cost S$ 4,000 back in 1977. The Malaysian government back in the 1970s did not allow the Concorde to fly over Malaysia with no solid reasons given. The only reasoning was that the Concorde’s supersonic boom might affect the environment of the country.
