A new COVID-19 variant, he latest Omicron sublineage variant XBB1.5, is spreading fast in the United States and parts of Europe is the “most transmissible subvariant that has been detected yet,” says WHO.
The surge in this infections strain, while highly contagious, does not appear to make people sicker but it is raising concerns on how long this COVID-19 will keep mutating and infecting people though there is no indication that it is more severe than previous versions of Omicron.
Variant XBB1.5
Scientists are continuing to gather data and analyse XBB1.5, but major concerns will only arise if the subvariant changes in behaviour and leads to widespread and more serious symptoms, several reports state, while experts urge people to be cautious, use mask, use sanitizers but not to be too overly concerned.
