The Secretary-General of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), Anthony Loke, has denied reports claiming that the party will drop Penang’s Deputy Chief Minister II, P. Ramasamy, from contesting in the upcoming state election.
P. Ramasamy’s current position
Loke, speaking to reporters in Selangor, said that Pakatan Harapan (PH) has not finalised any candidate list or seat allocation. Ramasamy, who is also the Perai assemblyman, has been with the DAP for three terms since the 12th general election in 2008.
Last week, The Star newspaper reported that Ramasamy could be dropped from the PH candidate list, citing DAP’s intention to make way for new faces. Loke stated that the party will handle the issue internally, and that they are still dealing with Ramasamy.
