During the court proceedings, the Thai couple confessed to carrying out the fraudulent activities alongside seven other individuals on Facebook between March and October 2019. The scam enticed people with investment opportunities promising a 93% return. Wantanee attempted to lend credibility to the scheme by sharing videos of herself showcasing jewelry in a gold shop.

The court ruled that the couple had defrauded around 2,533 individuals, with the total investment reaching 1.3 billion baht (approximately RM171 million). However, their actual prison term is expected to be limited to 20 years in accordance with Thai law.
