As people from neighboring countries we would always have a banter with each other. Unfortunately, there are times where debates can get heated and sentiments thrown towards each other. Recently, netizens debate if Singapore is actually still considered as “Tanah Melayu” or not.
Is Singapore still “Tanah Melayu?”
There were some harsh statements thrown towards some Singaporeans in lieu of the political issues of the Middle East. An X user claims that the country is never “Tanah Melayu.” However, there are debates about it on X.
Some state that the natives there would not associate their country with it. But another X user states that he is a native there and some of them do think that they are still “Tanah Melayu.” Regardless, separating ourselves by our race is a thing of the past. We’re living in a globalization era where digital nomads are the norm.
