Five men, including a soldier, were arrested by the police for allegedly provoking and threatening customers at a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in Sungai Isap here.

Last Friday night, just a minute’s walk away from the firebombed KK Mart in Kuantan, a small group staged a heated boycott against McDonald’s. Social media chatter in Kuantan revealed discontent as Muslims returned to McDonald’s, prompting memories of a previous boycott linked to Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Protest

Videos surfaced of individuals circling the Sungai Isap branch with Palestinian flags and heckling customers. One clip depicted derogatory remarks directed at patrons. Allegedly, a man and his family faced taunts while dining, further highlighting tensions. Police noted initial disregard by the man, yet subsequent confrontation upon leaving. The resurgence of such tensions underscores the enduring impact of geopolitical conflicts on local communities and businesses.
