Malaysia’s top bureaucrat, Mr. Mohd Zuki Ali, highlighted a decrease in corruption convictions among civil servants, showcasing integrity in their work culture. Convictions dropped from 74 in 2020 to 21 in 2022 among 1.48 million civil servants.

However, 8,556 underperforming civil servants faced disciplinary action in 2022, with 140 taken to court for power abuse or corruption. Mr. Zuki emphasized that the government remains vigilant against misconduct. His comments coincide with ongoing anti-graft efforts, including the recent charging of Mohd Syafeeq Mohd Shukri, son of Perlis menteri besar, for submitting false claims amounting to RM600,000.
