SEOUL – A fire broke out at a car parts factory in Daejeon, South Korea, on Friday, injuring 55 people, including 24 seriously, while 14 remain missing. Authorities said many employees were likely in a second-floor break room when the blaze started around lunchtime. Some victims were hurt after jumping from the building to escape.

President Lee Jae Myung ordered full mobilisation of resources, activating a centralised disaster management system. The factory, owned by Anjun Industrial, supplies Hyundai and Kia. By 6 p.m. local time, officials reported 80% of the fire had been contained, though search efforts continue.
