Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming claimed that 20 tonnes of garbage were collected after the “Turun Anwar” protest, stating participants left behind massive litter.
Afnan to Nga: “Talk About Garbage in Government, Not on the Street”
However, Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden refuted the claim, arguing the participants cleaned up themselves and sarcastically questioned the plausibility of each protester producing 1.2 kg of waste.
Holding a water bottle in a video, Afnan said the site was clean post-rally and urged Nga to focus on “garbage in government” instead. PDRM reported over 18,000 attendees. The debate has stirred further attention to the rally’s peaceful nature and message.
