Akmal Reminds Nga of Resignation Pledge

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20, 2026 — Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has reminded Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming of his earlier pledge to resign, following Anthony Loke’s announcement that he was stepping down as transport minister.

In a Facebook post, Akmal said Loke’s resignation was “ordering one thing and getting another,” adding that Nga should recall his promise to quit if Umno won a landslide in Johor and Najib Razak was released without serving a fitting sentence. He even shared his own resignation letter from July as a reference.

Resignation Pledge

Loke resigned after Najib was granted conditional house arrest, but clarified that other DAP ministers would remain in the Unity Government. He acknowledged speculation that DAP’s exit could weaken Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s parliamentary support, potentially leading to dissolution of Parliament.

Akmal’s remarks reignited pressure on Nga to honour his earlier statement.
