KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 — Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has called for Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki to take temporary leave while investigations into his shareholdings continue.

Dr Akmal said the move would protect MACC’s integrity and credibility, stressing that public trust is essential for the agency’s legitimacy. He warned that if the investigation process is doubted, its results will inevitably be questioned. To ensure transparency, he suggested oversight by an independent body such as a bipartisan parliamentary committee or a credible tribunal.
