SINGAPORE, Aug 9, 2026 – The Block 409 Ang Mo Kio Market & Food Centre officially reopened after two months of upgrading works, unveiling improved facilities and a new AI-powered robotic sweeper. Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Ang Mo Kio GRC MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin officiated the reopening, held in conjunction with SG61 celebrations. During the event, they launched Little Red Bot, a robotic sweeper developed by AMKTC in partnership with Maint-Kleen.
AI Robot Sweeper
The robot autonomously navigates common areas, collecting litter such as cigarette butts, cans, and leaves, and returns to its docking station when it rains. A real-time monitoring system alerts cleaners when its bin is full, allowing quick servicing. AMKTC chairman Henry Kwek said the deployment highlights how AI can support cleaning teams, improve productivity, and enhance services. The robot complements human cleaners by handling repetitive sweeping tasks, freeing them to focus on detailed cleaning and inspections.
