1 min read

SINGAPORE, Aug 9, 2026 – A 49‑year‑old woman has been arrested in Singapore in connection with the Fun Coffee investment scheme, police confirmed. She was detained on Aug 6 for allegedly promoting the scheme and recruiting participants. Victims were required to install an app and transfer Tether (USDT) cryptocurrency into designated wallets. The scheme promised high returns and commissions for new recruits, but investors later found themselves unable to withdraw funds.

Coffee Scam

Authorities said the suspect was arrested under the Multi‑Level Marketing and Pyramid Selling (Prohibition) Act. If convicted, she faces up to five years in jail, a fine of S$200,000, or both. Fun Coffee, based in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, claimed assets worth US$1 billion and a workforce of 5,000. Police noted similar arrests in Hong Kong and Macau, where 200 victims lost nearly HK$100 million. Singapore police urged the public to avoid payments via private QR codes or overseas accounts.
