KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30, 2026 – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he will hold discussions with Anthony Loke following the latter’s decision to resign as Transport Minister.
Anwar confirmed receiving Loke’s resignation letter yesterday, noting that the minister’s performance had been “very good” and that there were no issues with his work. “Anthony Loke just gave me the resignation letter yesterday. His performance as minister has been excellent. That is why I will discuss with him,” Anwar told reporters after launching Hari Ikhtisas Malaysia.

The Prime Minister also questioned why media attention was focused on Loke’s resignation instead of corruption and financial scandals. “Why do we push someone who did not steal to resign, while issues of corruption and theft are ignored?” he remarked.
Loke had earlier announced that he submitted his resignation letter to Anwar, though the Prime Minister indicated he would not rush into a decision. The development comes amid heightened political scrutiny following recent events in the Unity Government.
