Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged the public to read the explanations provided by MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki regarding allegations of his shareholdings.

Speaking at the ACCCIM Chinese New Year reception, Anwar questioned why critics resorted to insults against Azam, who he said was simply carrying out his duties. Bloomberg recently reported Azam held RM800,000 worth of shares in Velocity Capital Partners, allegedly breaching civil service rules.
Azam insisted the shares were declared and disposed of in 2025. Deputy Minister M. Kulasegaran confirmed there is no cap on civil servant investments. Azam plans to sue Bloomberg for defamation.
