The Malaysian government is using artificial insemination as part of its efforts to boost the critically low population of Malayan Tigers. The initiative is being carried out at the National Wildlife Rescue Centre (NWRC) in Sungkai.
Artificial Insemination
The Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, stated that this method is being explored due to the low birth rates among the endangered Malayan Tigers. The population of this species is threatened, and this method is seen as a potential solution to help increase their numbers, though it is still in the trial phase.
