MITI Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has shut down the comment sections of his social media accounts.
For many netizens, it is a white flag displayed by the minister who could not fight the abusive comments on social media.
Tuesday, netizens pointed Azmin had shut the comments section on Twitter. Only a few selected people can now see what is posted by the minister or his staff.
The crowd of Malaysian followers, around 620,000 can see updates from the account. But they cannot comment. This action follows two years of online bashing against the minister after he jumped ship from Pakatan Harapan.
A post on Facebook yesterday morning on his account had 135 comments before the section was closed.
Azmin is always subjected to comments abuse and unrelenting personal attacks on social media. His children are also subjected to the same treatment by social media users.
TENSION IN PN

Netizens are saying this is because of the growing tension in the PN. Some ministers are apparently at odds and are against the MITI minister.
The issue could be the closure of factories under tighter rules during the EMCO. The country entered the emergency movement control order on July 3 after an increase in daily infections.
The country expected to see COVID-19 cases lower by June 30. But the cases went up, well above the 4000 limits imposed under the recovery plan.

If the numbers were below 4000 cases per day, Malaysia would see a relaxation of the emergency protocol.
Azmin is accused by netizens and opponents of mishandling the crisis in allowing too many ‘hot beds’ of the virus to operate unchecked.
The Ministry of Health or KKM and Azmin got into a fight, whether the factories resulted in more daily cases. Azmin told local media the factories only accounted for 5 or 10% of the cases.
However, health department officials, said the factories and workplaces accounted for a larger number of infections daily.
His Instagram account has also limited the comment section.
