On social media, netizens have shared excuses often used to avoid giving, such as claiming not to carry cash. However, a post on X by user @kamaghul highlighted that such excuses no longer hold weight in today’s digital age.

During the covid-19 crisis, we saw videos of beggars in India carrying their own credit card machines that allows people to swipe their cards on the machines to donate. That was a step ahead but with qr-codes now displayed by beggars in Kuala Lumpur, it is yet another step forward for the unbanked population. What say you?
