Rosmaini Abd. Raof, 43, has shocked Malaysians after allegedly assaulting his pregnant wife with household items, causing her to miscarry. The victim, a 39‑year‑old hospital staff member, suffered injuries to her body and face and is receiving treatment at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital. Police confirmed Rosmaini has been married nine times, currently to three civil servants, and has 11 children.

He was previously convicted of attacking ex‑wife Jahidah Nordin in 2021, leaving her in a coma, but his 10‑year sentence was postponed pending appeal. Rosmaini, who has four prior criminal records, was arrested in Alor Setar after fleeing the latest incident. Authorities have reclassified the case as voluntarily causing grievous hurt, carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or caning.
