The trial of former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin took a turn last week when prosecution witness Norazeanti Miswan, a banker, testified that Bersatu’s property does not belong to its president. Muhyiddin faces seven charges, including RM225.3 million in alleged bribes linked to the Jana Wibawa project and RM200 million in unlawful proceeds deposited into Bersatu’s accounts.

During cross‑examination, Norazeanti agreed that donations were made transparently to the party, not to Muhyiddin personally, and that suspicious transaction reports do not necessarily indicate unlawful activity. The defence emphasized that contributions to Bersatu cannot be claimed as personal assets.
