America’s wealthiest donors are pouring unprecedented sums into the upcoming midterm elections, with contributions already totaling nearly $850 million.
A review of federal campaign finance data shows that billionaires and millionaires are shaping the political landscape through massive donations to super PACs and party committees.
Jeff Yass, Elon Musk Among Biggest Election Donors
Leading the pack is financier George Soros and his family, who have given more than $103 million, primarily through Democracy PAC. Wall Street billionaire Jeff Yass follows closely with $95.3 million, much of it directed toward conservative groups like Club for Growth Action.
Elon Musk has also emerged as a major player, donating $90.5 million, including over $50 million to America PAC, a super PAC he helped establish.
Other significant contributors include Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein ($70 million), Miriam Adelson ($67.6 million), and Chris Larsen with Ripple Labs ($65.7 million).
Tech and venture capital figures such as Greg Brockman, Ben Horowitz, and Marc Andreessen have also invested tens of millions, often backing AI and cryptocurrency-focused PACs.
These donations highlight the growing influence of ultra-wealthy individuals in U.S. politics. With billions at stake, their contributions are not only funding candidates but also shaping debates on technology, energy, and governance ahead of November’s elections.
