LONDON, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) — Britons dedicate an average of 56.6 hours annually to weather-related conversations, according to new Met Office research. The study highlights the nation’s enduring fascination with climate, especially during what could be one of the hottest summers on record. With four widespread heatwaves, the mean temperature from June 1 to Aug. 17 reached 16.2 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees above average. Sixty percent of respondents ranked weather as their favorite conversation topic, while 43 percent often use it as an icebreaker. Experts say the habit reflects both social connection and growing climate concerns.
