Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that subsidised diesel prices for Malaysians will be reduced to RM2.10 per litre starting July. The reform, unveiled in Bintulu, Sarawak, will standardise diesel subsidy targeting nationwide using MyKad verification, similar to the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed Malaysians across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan will enjoy the same subsidised price, while non‑citizens and ineligible groups must pay market rates. This move aligns retail diesel prices in East Malaysia with the peninsula, ensuring subsidies benefit only Malaysians and strengthening fairness in fuel distribution.
